Of Hobbits

01-05

1A beloved children’s fantasy novel written many years ago begins with the sentence “In a hole in the ground there lived a hobbit.”

1Xǔduō nián qián, yǒuyī běn shòu rén xǐ'ài de értóng qíhuàn xiǎoshuō, kāizōngmíngyì dì yī jù jiù xiězhe:`Zài dìdǐ dòngxué zhōng zhùzhe yī míng hā bǐ rén.'

2The story of Bilbo Baggins is about a most normal and unremarkable hobbit who is presented with a most remarkable opportunity—the wonderful chance at adventure and the promise of a great reward.

2Bǐ'ěr bó·bājīn sī de gùshì jiǎng dào yǒu gè píngfán wú qí de hā bǐ rén, dédàole yīgè lìng rén chēngxiàn de jīhuì——zhè jīhuì qiānzǎinánféng, néng qù màoxiǎn, yòu yǒu fēnghòu de chóu shǎng.

3The problem is that most self-respecting hobbits want nothing to do with adventures.

3Wèntí shì, zìzūnxīn shén qiáng de hā bǐ rén gēnběn bùxiǎng màoxiǎn.

4Their lives are all about comfort.

4Tāmenguòzhe ānyì de rìzi.

5They enjoy eating six meals a day when they can get them and spend their days in their gardens, swapping tales with visitors, singing, playing musical instruments, and basking in the simple joys of life.

5Kěyǐ dehuà, yītiān xiǎngyòng liù cān, zài huāyuán lǐ yōuxián dù rì, hé fǎngkè jiāohuàn xiāng yě qí tán, chànggē, tán zòu yuèqì, chénjìn zài shēnghuó de xiǎo què xìng lǐ.

06-11

6However, when Bilbo is presented with the prospect of a grand adventure, something surges deep within his heart.

6Rán'ér, bǐ'ěr bódé zhī dà màoxiǎn huì shì zěnyàng de qíngxíng shí, nèixīn shēn chù péngpài jīdàng.

7He understands from the outset that the journey will be challenging.

7Tā cóng yī kāishǐ jiù zhīdào, zhè tàng lǚchéng jiāng chōngmǎn tiǎozhàn,

8Even dangerous.

8Shènzhì fēicháng wéixiǎn.

9There is even a possibility he might not return.

9Hěn yǒu kěnéng yī qù bù fǎn.

10And yet, the call to adventure has reached deep into his heart.

10Dànshì màoxiǎn de hū zhào, shēn shēn dǎdòng tā de xīn.

11And so, this unremarkable hobbit leaves comfort behind and enters the path to a great adventure that will take him all the way to “there and back again.”

11Yúshì, zhège bù qǐyǎn de hā bǐ rén zǒuchūle shūshì quān, tà shàng dà màoxiǎn de lùchéng, jiāngyào wánchéng tā de `lìxiǎn jì'.

Your Adventure

12-20

12Perhaps one of the reasons this story resonates with so many is because it is our story too.

12Zhège gùshì zàochéng guǎngdà de huíxiǎng, yuányīn huòxǔ jiù zàiyú zhè yěshì wǒmen de gùshì.

13Long, long ago, even before we were born, in an age dimmed by time and clouded from memory, we too were invited to embark on an adventure.

13Hěnjiǔ hěnjiǔ yǐqián, zǎo zài wǒmen chūshēng qián, zài nàgè shíjiān àndàn, jìyì móhú de niándài, wǒmen yě shòu yāo zhǎnkāi yīcì màoxiǎn.

14It was proposed by God, our Heavenly Father.

14Nà shì wǒmen de fù shén suǒ tíyì de.

15Accepting this adventure would mean leaving the comfort and security of His immediate presence.

15Jiēshòu zhè xiàng màoxiǎn, yìwèizhe yào líkāi fù shén miànqián de shūshì yǔ ānquán,

16It would mean coming to earth for a journey filled with unknown danger and trial.

16Yě yìwèizhe yào lái dào shìshàng, jīnglì yī tàng chōngmǎn wèizhī de wéixiǎn hé kǎoyàn de rénshēng lǚchéng.

17We knew it would not be easy.

17Dāngshí wǒmen dōu zhīdào zhè bìng bù róngyì.

18But we also knew that we would gain precious treasures, including a physical body and experiencing the intense joys and sorrows of mortality.

18Dàn wǒmen yě zhīdào, wǒmen huì dédào zhēnguì de bǎozàng, bāokuò yǒngyǒu gǔròu de shēntǐ, yǐjí tǐyàn jīnshēng de bēihuānlíhé.

19We would learn to strive, to seek, and to struggle.

19Wǒmen huì xué dào qù fèndòu, xúnqiú hé nǔlì,

20We would discover truths about God and ourselves.

20Yě huì fāxiàn guānyú shén hé guānyú wǒmen zìjǐ de zhēnlǐ.

21-26

21Of course, we knew we would make many mistakes along the way.

21Dāngrán, wǒmen zhīdào, zhè yī lùshàng, wǒmen huì fàn xǔduō cuòwù.

22But we also had a promise: that because of the great sacrifice of Jesus Christ, we could be cleansed of our transgressions, refined and purified in our spirits, and one day resurrected and reunited with those we love.

22Dànshì wǒmen yě dédào yīngxǔ, jiùshì: Yóuyú yēsū jīdū de wěidà xīshēng, wǒmen fàn de zuì huì bèi xǐ jìng, wǒmen de líng huì bèi tíshēng hé jìnghuà, jiānglái huì fùhuó, yǔ wǒmen suǒ ài de rén tuánjù.

23We learned how much God loves us.

23Wǒmen zhīdàole shén yǒu duōme ài wǒmen.

24He gave us life, and He wants us to succeed.

24Tā cì gěi wǒmen shēngmìng, xīwàng wǒmen chénggōng.

25Therefore, He prepared a Savior for us.

25Yīncǐ, tā wèi wǒmen zhǔnbèile yī wèi jiù zhǔ.

26“Nevertheless,” our Father in Heaven said, “thou mayest choose for thyself, for it is given unto thee.”

26Wǒmen tiānshàng de fù shuō:`Rán'ér, nǐ kěyǐ wéi nǐ zìjǐ xuǎnzé, yīnwèi nà yǐ gěile nǐ.'

27-32

27There must have been parts of the mortal adventure that worried and even terrified God’s children, since a large number of our spiritual brothers and sisters decided against it.

27Chénshì de màoxiǎn bìrán yǒuxiē bùfèn huì lìng shén de érnǚ gǎndào dānyōu, shènzhì hàipà, yīnwèi wǒmen yǒu bù shǎo líng tǐ de dìxiōng zǐmèi juédìng fǎnduì zhè jì huà.

28By the gift and power of moral agency, we determined that the potential of what we could learn and eternally become was well worth the risk.

28Wǒmen xiāngxìn, jízhe dàodé xuǎnzé quán de ēncì hé nénglì, wǒmen yǒu qiánnéng xuéxí bìng yǒnghéng dì chéngwéi yīnggāi chéngwéi de rén, zhè zhídé wǒmen qù màoxiǎn.

29And so, trusting the promises and power of God and His Beloved Son, we accepted the challenge.

29Yúshì, wǒmen yīn wéi xìnrèn shén jí qí àizǐ de yīngxǔ yǔ dà néng, jiēshòule zhè xiàng tiǎozhàn.

30I did.

30Wǒ jiēshòule,

31And so did you.

31Gèwèi yě jiēshòule.

32We agreed to leave the security of our first estate and embark on our own great adventure of “there and back again.”

32Wǒmen tóngyì líkāi dì yī dìwèi de ānquán bǎozhàng, zhǎnkāi gèrén zhòngyào de `lìxiǎn'lǚchéng.

The Call to Adventure

33-38

33And yet, mortal life has a way of distracting us, doesn’t it?

33Bùguò, chénshì shàng de shēnghuó zǒng yǒu bànfǎ fēnsàn wǒmen de zhùyì lì, bùshì ma?

34We tend to lose sight of our great quest, preferring comfort and ease over growth and progress.

34Wǒmen hěn róngyì jiù wàngjì zìjǐ zhòngyào de qǐpàn, xǐhuān shūshì ānyì, gèng shén yú chéngzhǎng jìnbù.

35Still, there remains something undeniable, deep within our hearts, that hungers for a higher and nobler purpose.

35Jǐnguǎn rúcǐ, wǒmen xīnzhōng háishì shēn cángzhe mǒu zhǒng wúfǎ fǒurèn de gǎnshòu, jiùshì kěqiúzhe gèng gāoyuǎn de mùbiāo.

36This hunger is one reason why people are drawn to the gospel and Church of Jesus Christ.

36Zhèyàng de kěqiú, shì rénmen shòudào yēsū jīdū de fúyīn hé jiàohuì xīyǐn de yīgè yuányīn.

37The restored gospel is, in a sense, a renewal of the call to adventure we accepted so long ago.

37Jiù mǒu zhǒng yìyì lái shuō, fùxīng de fúyīn ràng wǒmen zàicì xiǎngqǐ xǔjiǔ yǐqián nàgè màoxiǎn de hū zhào.

38The Savior invites us, each day, to set aside our comforts and securities and join Him on the journey of discipleship.

38Jiù zhǔ rì fù yī rì yāoqǐng wǒmen fàngxià shūshì hé ānquán bǎozhàng, zài zhège méntú lǚchéng zhōng yǔ tā tóngxíng.

39-44

39There are many bends in this road.

39Zhè tiáo lùshàng huì yǒu xǔduō qūzhé,

40There are hills, valleys, and detours.

40Yǒu gāoshān, yǒu dīgǔ, yǒu wānlù,

41There may even be metaphorical spiders, trolls, and even a dragon or two.

41Shènzhì huì yù dào bǐyù zhōng de zhīzhū, mófǎ jīnglíng, shènzhì yī liǎng zhī è lóng.

42But if you stay on the path and trust in God, you will eventually find the way to your glorious destiny and back to your heavenly home.

42Dàn rúguǒ jiānchí zǒu zài zhè tiáo lùshàng, bìngqiě xìnlài shén, zhōngjiù huì zhǎodào nà tiáo tōng wǎng zìjǐ róngyào mùbiāo dì lù, huí dào tiānshàng de jiā.

43So how do you begin?

43Nàme, yào zěnme kāishǐ ne?

44It’s quite simple.

44Hěn jiǎndān.

  • 45-62
Incline Your Heart to God

45-50

45First, you need to choose to incline your heart to God.

45Shǒuxiān, bìxū xuǎnzé quán xīn guīxiàng shén.

46Strive each day to find Him.

46Měitiān nǔlì qù xúnzhǎo tā,

47Learn to love Him.

47Xuéxí qù ài tā.

48And then let that love inspire you to learn, understand, and follow His teachings and learn to keep God’s commandments.

48Ránhòu, ràng zhè fèn ài jīlì wǒmen qù xuéxí, lǐjiě hé shíjiàn tā de jiàoxùn, bìng xuéxí zūnshǒu shén de jiè mìng.

49The restored gospel of Jesus Christ is given to us in a plain and simple way that a child can understand.

49Yēsū jīdū fùxīng de fúyīn, shì yǐ yīzhǒng míngbái jiǎndān, lián háizi dōu néng dǒng de fāngshì cì gěi wǒmen de.

50Yet the gospel of Jesus Christ has the answers to the most complex questions in life and has such profound depth and complexity that even with a lifetime of study and pondering, we can scarcely comprehend even the smallest part.

50Jǐnguǎn rúcǐ, yēsū jīdū de fúyīn què néng jiědá rénshēng cuòzōngfùzá de wèntí, zhèxiē wèntí shēn'ào fùzá, jíshǐ wǒmen qióng jiū yīshēng, kěnéng lián qízhōng zuìxiǎo de dàolǐ yě nányǐ lǐngwù.

51-57

51If you hesitate in this adventure because you doubt your ability, remember that discipleship is not about doing things perfectly; it’s about doing things intentionally.

51Zài zhè tàng màoxiǎn zhōng, wǒmen rúguǒ yīn wéi huáiyí zìjǐ de nénglì ér yóuyù bù qián, jiù yào jì zhù: Chéngwéi méntú, bùshì yào fánshì zuò dé wánměi, ér shì yào zuò dé yòngxīn.

52It is your choices that show what you truly are, far more than your abilities.

52Wǒmen de xuǎnzé, yuǎn bǐ wǒmen de nénglì, gèng néng zhǎnxiàn wǒmen zhēnzhèng de wéi rén.

53Even when you fail, you can choose not to give up, but rather discover your courage, press forward, and rise up.

53Jíshǐ shībàile, wǒmen yě kěyǐ xuǎn zhái bu fàngqì, gèng qù zhǎo chū zìjǐ de yǒngqì, xiàng qián màijìn, bìng fènfā xiàngshàng.

54That is the great test of the journey.

54Nà shì lǚchéng zhōng de zhòngyào kǎoyàn.

55God knows that you are not perfect, that you will fail at times.

55Shén zhīdào wǒmen bù wánměi, yě zhīdào wǒmen bù shí huì diédǎo.

56God loves you no less when you struggle than when you triumph.

56Shén zài wǒmen xīnkǔ zhēngzhá shígěi wǒmen de ài, bù huì bǐ wǒmen shènglì shígěi de ài shǎo.

57Like a loving parent, He merely wants you to keep intentionally trying.

57Shén jiù xiàng yī wèi cí fù, zhǐ xīwàng wǒmen jìxù yòngxīn chángshì.

58-62

58Discipleship is like learning to play the piano.

58Chéngwéi méntú de lǚchéng, yǒurú xuéxí tán zòu gāngqín.

59Perhaps all you can do at first is play a barely recognizable rendition of “Chopsticks.”

59Qǐxiān, kěnéng zhǐ huì tán zòu tīng bù chū xuánlǜ de `kuàizi jìnxíngqǔ'.

60But if you continue practicing, the simple tunes will one day give way to wondrous sonatas, rhapsodies, and concertos.

60Dànshì, rúguǒ jìxù liànxí dehuà, xiànzài de jiǎndān xuánlǜ, jiānglái huì biànchéng lìng rén jīngyàn de zòumíngqǔ, kuángxiǎngqǔ hé xiézòuqǔ.

61Now, that day may not come during this life, but it will come.

61Nà yītiān huòxǔ bù huì zài jīnshēng lái dào, dàn yīdìng huì lái.

62All God asks is that you consciously keep striving.

62Shén suǒ yāoqiú de, zhǐshì wǒmen yòngxīn dì chíxù nǔlì.

  • 63-75
Reach Out in Love to Others

63-69

63There is something interesting, almost paradoxical, about this path you’ve chosen: the only way for you to progress in your gospel adventure is to help others progress as well.

63Yǒuguān wǒmen suǒ xuǎnzé de zhè tiáo lù, yǒu jiàn shì hěn yǒuqù, érqiě kàn shì zì xiāng máodùn: Wǒmen yào zài fúyīn dàolù shàng màoxiǎn qiánjìn, wéiyī de fāngfǎ jiùshì bāngzhù qítā rén gēnzhe yīqǐ qiánjìn.

64To help others is the path of discipleship.

64Bāngzhù tārén, jiùshì nà tiáo méntú de dàolù.

65Faith, hope, love, compassion, and service refine us as disciples.

65Xìnxīn, xīwàng, àixīn, liánmǐn, fúwù dōu néng cuì liàn wǒmen chéngwéi gèng hǎo de méntú.

66Through your efforts to help the poor and the needy, to reach out to those in distress, your own character is purified and forged, your spirit is enlarged, and you walk a little taller.

66Tòuguò bāngzhù pínqióng kùnkǔ zhī rén hé guānhuái tòngkǔ yōushāng zhī rén, wǒmen zìjǐ de pǐngé huì bèi jìnghuà, dédào duànliàn, língxìng déyǐ kuòdà, wǒmen yě gèng nénggòu ángshǒukuòbù dì xíngzǒu.

67But this love cannot come with expectations of repayment.

67Dànshì, zhèyàng de ài bùnéng chān zá zhuóxiǎng yào dédào huíbào de qīwàng.

68It cannot be the kind of service that expects recognition, adulation, or favor.

68Zhèyàng de fúwù bùnéng qídài huì ràng rén rèntóng, xiànmù huò xǐhuān.

69True disciples of Jesus Christ love God and His children without expectation of something in return.

69Yēsū jīdū zhēnzhèng de méntú ài shén hé tā de érnǚ, dàn bù huì qídài yǒu suǒ huíbào.

70-75

70We love those who disappoint us, who don’t like us.

70Wǒmen ài nàxiē ràng wǒmen shīwàng, bù xǐhuān wǒmen de rén,

71Even those who ridicule, abuse, and seek to hurt us.

71Shènzhì yě ài nàxiē cháonòng, nüèdài hé shìtú shānghài wǒmen de rén.

72When you fill your hearts with the pure love of Christ, you leave no room for rancor, judgment, and shaming.

72Wǒmen nèixīn chōngmǎn jīdū chúnzhèng de ài, jiù méiyǒu kòng jiān néng róng xià duì rén de chóuhèn, lùnduàn hé xiūrù.

73You keep God’s commandments because you love Him.

73Gèwèi zūnshǒu shén de jiè mìng, shì yīnwèi nǐmen ài tā.

74In the process, you slowly become more Christlike in your thoughts and deeds.

74Zài zhège guòchéng zhōng, wǒmen huì jiànjiàn de zài sīxiǎng hé xíngwéi shàng biàn dé gèng xiàng jīdū.

75And what adventure could be greater than this?

75Hái yǒu shé me màoxiǎn bǐ zhè gèng zhòngyào ne?

76The third thing we strive to master in this journey is to take upon ourselves the name of Jesus Christ and not be ashamed of being a member of the Church of Jesus Christ.

76Wǒmen zài zhè tàng lǚchéng zhōng nǔlì yào jīngtōng de dì sān jiàn shìqíng, shì chéngshòu yēsū jīdū de míng, bù yǐ yēsū jīdū hòuqí shèngtú jiàohuì de chéngyuán shēnfèn wéi chǐ.

77We do not hide our faith.

77Wǒmen bù yǐnmán zìjǐ de xìnyǎng,

78We do not bury it.

78Yě bù bǎ tā máicáng qǐlái,

79To the contrary, we talk about our journey with others in normal and natural ways.

79Ér shì yòng píngcháng qiě zìrán de fāngshì hé qítā rén jiǎng qǐ wǒmen de lǚchéng.

80That’s what friends do—they talk about things that are important to them.

80Zhè zhèng shì péngyǒu zhī jiān huì zuò de shì: Bǐcǐ tánlùn rénshēng zhōng zhòngyào de shìqíng.

81Things that are close to their heart and make a difference to them.

81Tán tāmen xīnlǐ dehuà hé duì tāmen yǒu yǐngxiǎng de shì.

82-89

82That’s what you do. You tell your stories and experiences as a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

82Zhè jiùshì gèwèi yào zuò de shì: Shuō shuō nǐmen shēn wèi yēsū jīdū hòuqí shèngtú jiàohuì chéngyuán de gùshì yǔ jīngyàn.

83Sometimes your stories make people laugh.

83Nǐmen de gùshì yǒu shíhòu huì ràng rén fāxiào,

84Sometimes they bring them to tears.

84Yǒu shíhòu huì ràng rén liúlèi,

85Sometimes they will help people to continue in patience, resilience, and courage to face another hour, another day and come a little closer to God.

85Yǒu shíhòu kěyǐ bāngzhù qítā rén jìxù píngzhe nàixīn, yìlì hé yǒngqì, qù miàn duì lìng yīgè xiǎoshí, lìng yītiān, yǔ shén gèng jiējìn xiē.

86Share your experiences in person, on social media, in groups, everywhere.

86Nǐmen kěyǐ qīnzì jiǎngshù, huò zài shè qún méitǐ, qún zǔ, dàochù qù fēnxiǎng nǐmen de jīngyàn.

87One of the last things Jesus told His disciples was that they were to go throughout the world and share the story of the risen Christ.

87Yēsū zài gàosù tā méntú de zuìhòu yīxiē shìqíng zhōng, tí dào yào tāmen wǎng pǔtiān xiàqù, chuán jiǎng yǒuguān fùhuó de jīdū de gùshì.

88Today we too joyfully accept that great commission.

88Jīntiān, wǒmen yě huānxǐ dì jiēshòu zhè xiàng zhòngdà de fùtuō.

89What a glorious message we have to share: because of Jesus Christ, every man, woman, and child can return home safely to their heavenly home and there dwell in glory and righteousness!

89Wǒmen yào fēnxiǎng de shì duōme róngyào de xùnxí: Yīnwèi yǒu yēsū jīdū, měi gè nánrén, nǚrén, xiǎohái dōu kěyǐ ānquán fǎnhuí tāmen zài tiānshàng de jiā, zhù zài róngyào yǔ zhèngyì zhōng!

90-99

90There is even more good news to share.

90Wǒmen hái yǒu gèng duō zhídé fēnxiǎng de hǎo xiāoxī.

91God has appeared to man in our day!

91Shén yǐjīng zài zhè shídài xiàng shìrén xiǎnxiànle!

92We have a living prophet.

92Wǒmen yǒu huózhe de xiānzhī.

93May I remind you that God does not need you to “sell” the restored gospel or the Church of Jesus Christ.

93Wǒ yào tíxǐng gèwèi, shén bù xūyào wǒmen qù `tuīxiāo'yēsū jīdū fùxīng de fúyīn huò jiàohuì,

94He simply expects you not to hide it under a bushel.

94Tā zhǐ qīwàng gèwèi bùyào bǎ tā cáng zài dòu dǐxia.

95And if people decide the Church is not for them, that is their decision.

95Yàoshi yǒurén juédé bù xūyào jiàohuì, nà shì tāmen de xuǎnzé.

96It does not mean you have failed.

96Zhè bìng bù biǎoshì nǐmen zuò dé bù hǎo.

97You continue to treat them kindly.

97Yào jìxù héshàn dì duìdài tāmen,

98Nor does it exclude that you invite them again.

98Bùyào cóngcǐ bù zài yāoqǐng tāmen.

99The difference between casual social contacts and compassionate, courageous discipleship is—invitation!

99Ǒu'ěr de shèjiāo liánxì, gēn yǒu àixīn jí yǒngqì de méntú zuòwéi, liǎng zhě bùtóng zhī chù zàiyú yāoqǐng!

100-109

100We love and respect all of God’s children, regardless of their position in life, regardless of their race or religion, regardless of their life’s decisions.

100Wǒmen ài shén suǒyǒu de érnǚ bìng zūnzhòng tāmen, bùlùn tāmen de shēnghuó chǔjìng rúhé, shì shénme zhǒngzú huò zōngjiào, huò shì zuòle shénme juédìng.

101For our part, we will say, “Come and see! Find out for yourself how walking the path of discipleship will be rewarding and ennobling.”

101Wǒmen zài gèrén de bùfèn, kěyǐ shuō:`Lái kàn! Qǐng qīnzì qù liǎojiě, zài méntú de dàolù shàng xíngzǒu huì shì duōme zhídé qiě gāoguì de.'

102We invite people to “come and help, as we try to make the world a better place.”

102Wǒmen yāoqǐng rénmen `lái bāngmáng, yīnwèi wǒmen yào ràng zhège shìjiè chéngwéi yīgè gèng hǎo dì dìfāng'.

103And we say, “Come and stay!

103Wǒmen yào shuō:`Lái qiě liú xià!

104We are your brothers and sisters.

104Wǒmen shì nǐmen de dìxiōng zǐmèi.

105We are not perfect.

105Wǒmen dōu bù wánměi.

106We trust God and seek to keep His commandments.

106Wǒmen xìnlài shén, nǔlì zūnshǒu tā de jiè mìng.

107“Join with us, and you will make us better.

107`Jiārù wǒmen, nǐmen huì shǐ wǒmen biàn dé gèng hǎo.

108And, in the process, you will become better as well.

108Zài zhè guòchéng zhōng, nǐmen yě huì biàn dé gèng hǎo.

109Let’s take this adventure together.”

109Zài zhè guòchéng zhōng, nǐmen yě huì biàn dé gèng hǎo.

  • 110-128
When Should I Start?

110-116

110When our friend Bilbo Baggins felt the call to adventure stir within him, he decided to get a good night’s rest, enjoy a hearty breakfast, and start out first thing in the morning.

110Wǒmen de péngyǒu, bǐ'ěr bó·bājīn sī, juédé màoxiǎn de hū zhào zài tā nèixīn fānténg shí, biàn juédìng wǎnshàng xiān shuì gè hǎo jué, ránhòu xiǎngshòu yī dùn fēngshèng de zǎocān, jiù lìkè chūfā.

111When Bilbo awoke, he noticed his house was a mess, and he was almost distracted from his noble plan.

111Bǐ'ěr bó xǐng lái hòu, kàn dào wū lǐ luànqībāzāo, chàdiǎn wàngle zìjǐ yuǎndà de jì huà.

112But then his friend Gandalf came and asked, “Whenever are you going to come?”

112Bùguò, nà shíhòu tā de péngyǒu gān dàofū láile, wèn tā shuō:`Nǐ dàodǐ shénme shíhòu yào chūfā?'

113To catch up with his friends, Bilbo had to decide for himself what to do.

113Wèile gǎn shàng tā de péngyǒumen, bǐ'ěr bó bùdé bù juédìng yào zěnme zuò.

114And so, the very normal and unremarkable hobbit found himself darting out his front door to the path of adventure so quickly that he forgot his hat, walking stick, and pocket handkerchief.

114Yúshì, zhège píngfán wú qí de hā bǐ rén, fēikuài dì zǒuchū qiánmén, tà shàng màoxiǎn zhī lù, màozi, guǎizhàng hé shǒupà dōu wàngle dài,

115He even left his second breakfast unfinished.

115Shènzhì lián dì èr dùn zǎocān dōu méi chī wán.

116Perhaps there is a lesson here for us as well.

116Huòxǔ, zhè yě wèi wǒmen shàngle yītáng kè.

117-120

117If you and I have felt the stirrings to join the great adventure of living and sharing what our loving Heavenly Father prepared for us a long time ago, I assure you, today is the day to follow God’s Son and our Savior on His path of service and discipleship.

117Rúguǒ nǐ wǒ yě gǎnshòu dào nèixīn zài fānténg, xiǎng jiārù zhè tàng rénshēng de dà màoxiǎn, qù zūnxíng hé fēnxiǎng tiān fù zài xǔjiǔ yǐqián wéi wǒmen zhǔnbèi de yīqiè, wǒ xiàng gèwèi bǎozhèng, jīntiān jiùshì gēncóng shén de érzi jì wǒmen de jiù zhǔ, zǒu shàng nà tiáo fúwù hé méntú zhī lù de rìzi.

118We could spend a lifetime waiting for that moment when everything lines up perfectly.

118Wǒmen kěyǐ huā yībèizi de shíjiān qù děngdài nàgè wànshì jù bèi de shíkè,

119But now is the time to commit fully to seeking God, ministering to others, and sharing our experience with others.

119Dàn xiànzài jiùshì chéngnuò yào quán xīn xúnqiú shén, shī zhù tārén, yǐjí yǔ rén fēnxiǎng jīngyàn de shíhòu.

120Leave behind your hat, walking stick, handkerchief, and messy house.

120Nǐmen de màozi, guǎizhàng, shǒupà hé luànqībāzāo de wūzi dōu kěyǐ rēng xià bùguǎn.

121-128

121To those of us already walking that path, take courage, exercise compassion, have confidence, and continue!

121Wǒmen dāngzhōng yǐjīng zǒu shàng zhè tiáo lù de rén, yào gǔ qǐ yǒngqì, huáizhe àixīn, yǒu zìxìn, bìng jiānchí xiàqù!

122To those who have left the path, please come back, join again with us, make us stronger.

122Yǐjīng líkāi zhè tiáo lù de rén, qǐng nǐmen huílái, chóngxīn jiārù wǒmen, ràng wǒmen gèng zhuàngdà.

123And to those who have not yet begun, why delay?

124If you want to experience the wonders of this great spiritual journey, set foot upon your own grand adventure!
